Llythyr Ionawr / January Letter

Dear Parents / Guardians,

Happy New Year to you all! I would like to welcome the 9 new children that have joined us at the school at the beginning of January – 7 in the Nursery, one child in Year 2 and one in Year 1. I’m very proud watching all of the children assisting the children to settle.

Transport Arrangements-I would like to inform you that the large bus for the Dyffryn area will be stopping in front of the school in the mornings as a drop off point and it will also be waiting on the highway at 3:20 to collect the children. Arrangements have changed because school staff and the Governing Body had concerns about the safety of our children walking to the turning circle. We kindly ask you to be calm and work with us whilst the bus is waiting to operate the above.

Behaviour – I’m writing to inform you that we’ve amended our behaviour policy and we will no longer be using the weather chart displays in class. There is now one poster “Hoffwn Ddathlu”-(Let’s Celebrate) in class on which the Class teacher and other members of staff can record your child’s name in recognition of exceptional behaviour to be commended! There is also another poster which displays what happens if the children make the right choices.

These are the steps if a child does not make the right choices:

  • make the right choice;
  • move to work on another table (or area);
  • lose 5 minutes (or more) of playtime;
  • go to another teacher and we will then inform parents / guardians via phone call;
  • go to see Mrs Jones- Campbell and receive a note to take home and discuss what are the right choices. (They will receive a note to notify you if they have been to see another teacher)

If they have been to see another member of staff to celebrate their work or behaviour they will bring a certificate home to celebrate their achievements.

This Terms Project – for details of this term’s project please log onto your child’s Google Classroom page.  We also tweet activities relating to our projects, remember to follow us at https://twitter.com/broteyrnon.

Physical Education:                                                                                                                      Children from Reception to Year 6 must wear appropriate clothing in order to participate safely in all physical activities: black shorts, red t-shirt (with school logo or plain), no jewellery (including earrings) and long hair should be tied back. Labelled PE kit in a Labelled PE Kit should be kept on the child’s peg and will returned every half term.  Ensure your child’s kit is in school.

Pryderi Class (Nursery) – Pryderi class’ physical session in the hall will be on a Thursday morning. They do not need to bring a PE Kit.

Governor News:
We would like to inform you that Mr James Bell is the new Parent Governor and Mrs Marilyn Bryan-Jones has been elected as a Community Governor

Snow – If there is severe snow over the coming months you should visit the council website to see if the school is closed. An up to date list will be on the website by 8 o’clock in the morning OF SCHOOLS THAT ARE CLOSED, if the school is not on the list it means that the school is open.  Please do not take instruction from any other sources of information i.e. School Transport Contractors. As we’ve notified you of procedures early we won’t have any more snow.  We live in hope!!!

Our priority as a school is to keep the school open, however, we like to plan in advance for all possibilities.  In the event of severe weather, it may be necessary to close part or all of the school.  This will be dependent on many factors, from the safety of the school site to the number of staff available to teach as many of the staff travel significant distances from outside the Newport area.

Thank you very much for your support.

Yours Sincerely,
Mrs Lona Jones-Campbell (Head Teacher)

Annwyl Rieni / Warchodwyr,

Blwyddyn Newydd Dda! Hoffwn groesawi  9 plentyn newydd sydd wedi ymuno â’r ysgol ar ddechrau mis Ionawr – 7 yn y Meithrin, un plentyn ym mlwyddyn 2 ac un plentyn ym mlwyddyn 1. Rwy’n falch iawn o bob un plentyn yn yr ysgol yn dangos gofal drostynt.

Trefniadau Trafnidiaeth –  Hoffwn eich hysbysu bod y bws mawr ar gyfer ardal Dyffryn yn aros o flaen yr ysgol yn y boreau i adael plant oddi ar y bws ac yna fe fydd yn aros o flaen yr ysgol am 3:20 i gasglu’r plant. Mae’r trefniadau wedi cael newid oherwydd roedd gan staff yr ysgol a’r Corff Llywodraethol bryderon am ddiogelwch ein plant yn cerdded i’r cylchdro. Gofynnwn yn garedig i chi fod yn bwyllog a gweithio gyda ni tra fod y bws yn aros i weithredu’r uchod.

Ymddygiad – Rwy’n ysgrifennu atoch i’ch hysbysu ein bod wedi diwygio ein polisi ymddygiad ac ni fyddwn bellach yn defnyddio’r arddangosfeydd siart tywydd yn y dosbarth. Bellach mae un poster “Hoffwn Ddathlu” yn y dosbarth ac fe fydd yr athro Dosbarth ac aelodau eraill o staff yn gallu cofnodi enw eich plentyn i gydnabod ymddygiad eithriadol i’w ganmol! Mae poster arall sy’n arddangos i’r plant beth sy’n digwydd os maent yn gwneud y dewisiadau cywir.

Dyma’r camau os nad yw plentyn yn gwneud y dewisiadau cywir: –

  • dewis y dewis  cywir;
  • symud i weithio ar fwrdd ( neu ardal) arall;
  • golli 5 munud (neu fwy ) o amser chwarae ;
  • fynd at athro arall a bydd angen ffonio eich rhieni;
  • fynd i weld Mrs Jones- Campbell a chael nodyn i fynd adref i drafod beth yw’r dewisiadau cywir (Fe fyddant yn derbyn nodyn os maent wedi bod yn gweld athro arall hefyd).

Os mae eich plentyn wedi bod i weld Mrs Jones-Campbell neu aelod arall o staff i ddathlu eu gwaith neu eu hymddygiad, byddant yn dod â thystysgrif gartref i ddathlu eu cyflawniadau  (gweler isod).

Prosiectau’r Tymor Hwn  – Manylion am thema’r tymor hwn ar dudalen Google Classroom dosbarth eich plentyn. Rydyn ni hefyd yn trydari lawer o weithgareddau sy’n gysylltiedig â’r prosiectau, cofiwch i ddilyn ni ar https://twitter.com/broteyrnon.

Gwersi ymarfer Corff                                                                                                                         Mae’n rhaid i blant Derbyn i Flwyddyn 6 wisgo dillad addas er mwyn cymryd rhan yn ddiogel yn yr holl weithgareddau corfforol: siorts du, crys t coch (gyda logo’r ysgol  neu un plaen), dim gemwaith (gan gynnwys clustdlysau) ac mae’n rhaid i wallt hir gael ei glymu ’nôl. Dylid cadw’r dillad wedi eu labeli mewn bag sydd ag enw’r plentyn arno ar beg y disgybl ac fe fydd y bagiau yn cael eu dychwelyd bob hanner tymor. Sicrhewch fod cit eich plentyn yn yr ysgol.

Dosbarth Pryderi (Meithrin) –  Fe fydd cyfnod corfforol Dosbarth Pryderi yn y neuadd ar fore Iau. Nid oes angen iddynt ddod a dillad ymarfer corff i’r ysgol.

Newyddion Llywodraethwyr:
Hoffwn eich hysbysu mai Mr James Bell yw cynrychiolydd rhieni newydd ar y Corff Llywodraethol ac mae Mrs Marilyn Bryan Jones wedi cael ei hethol yn Llywodraethwr Cymenedol.

Eira – Os fe fydd eira trwm yn ystod y misoedd nesaf hoffwn eich cynghori i ymweld â gwefan y Cyngor i weld os fe fydd yr ysgol ar gau. Fe fydd y wybodaeth diweddara ar wefan y cyngor erbyn 8 o’r gloch y bore ac fe restri’r yr YSGOLION SYDD AR GAUos nad yw’r ysgol ar y rhestr mae’n golygu bod yr ysgol ar agor. Peidiwch â chymryd cyfarwyddyd o unrhyw ffynonellau gwybodaeth eraill, ee Contractwyr Cludiant Ysgol. Gan fy mod wedi eich hysbysu o hyn yn gynnar ni fydd mwy o eira!!! Fe allwn ni fyw mewn gobaith.

Ein blaenoriaeth fel ysgol yw i gadw’r ysgol ar agor fel arfer, er hyn, yr ydym am gynllunio o flaen llaw ar gyfer pob posibilrwydd. Mewn achos o dywydd garw, efallai y bydd angen i ni gau rhan o’r ysgol neu’r ysgol gyfan.  Bydd hyn yn dibynnu ar nifer o ffactorau, o ddiogelwch safle’r ysgol at y nifer o staff sydd ar gael i addysgu oherwydd mae nifer o’r athrawon yn teithio o bellter i’r ysgol yn ddyddiol.

Diolch am eich cydweithrediad,

Yr eiddoch yn gywir,
Mrs Lona Jones-Campbell (Pennaeth)
